Happy Pink Shirt Day. We had students wear their pink shirts loud and proud to show support against Bullying. We at OPS have our HEART values (HONESTY, EXCELLENCE, ATTITUDE, RESPECT AND TOLERANCE). So we tried to show love and support to each other and wear our pink shirts loud and proud. Its important to speak out against bullying. So if you are being bullied “PLEASE SPEAK UP”

Today we had the “Bikes in School” programme come into school and go over “Bike Safety” and how to ride bikes safely. Students were highly engaged and were happy to learn different skills on how to be safe while riding a bike. Main rule is make sure you have a helmet on and make sure your brakes are working well. Here is a snapshot of our fun filled day.

Today we used our artistic skills and applied it to something we can rather feast on not only by our eyes but also our mouths. We decorated some sponge cakes in our groups and tried to work together to make the frosting the right consistency. We also had to use the ingredients available to come up with a decoration idea for our cakes. It was truly delicious!

Bula Vinaka,

Since we read a book on colors we decided to put our Bob Ross hats on and paint a sunset background. Hope you all like it. We had to learn how to blend different colors to add depth into our paintings. Here is a few snapshots of our work.

Toda we tried to give sketching and shading a go. We watched a video on youtube and followed it step by step to create a background. We then used charcoal pencils to shade in extra details giving our sketching some depth. Give it a try if you can.

We spent the term learning about importance of eating healthy and how nutrition plays a huge part in our overall development. Here is a few click on our research.

Today we all used Google drawings to create images that represents things that we like. It showed us how many of us have similar interests and it helped us connect with each other. Give this a try with a friend if you want to know more about them.

We spent some time this week honouring our Treaty by learning more about the Treaty of Waitangi and what it represents to us all.

It was an eye opener for many students on how a Treaty can hold such power and importance to our lives and this is why we must respect and honour it.

Today the Monitors at Otahuhu Primary were rewarded for their hard work throughout the year with an amazing trip to Rainbows End. Here is a few clicks of our fun filled day!
