Duffy 30th Anniversary

Talofa Lava,

Today our class was chosen to attend the Duffy 30 year anniversary at the Manakau events centre. We were introduced to lots of inspirational speakers who motivated our Tamariki on the importance of Reading and how fortunate we are to have Duffy supply us with over 15 million books throughout the 30 years. We thank you Duffy for your love and support for our Tamariki’s learning with the free books you give us every year.

Tiritirimatangi Island Trip

Talofa Lava Whanau,

As part of our Inquiry (Birds, Bees and Bugs) we took a trip to Tiritirimatangi Island. It was almost an hour and half ride on the ferry to the Island and it was absolutely breath taking. The island had so many amazing native birds such as the Tui, Taakahe, Kakapo and much more. We looked at how this island is a sanctuary for these amazing birds and that it is important for us to protect them so they dont become extinct. We took lots of notes and information on the importance of looking after our planet, migration and how its important for us to preserve our native animals. If you ever get a chance to go to Tiritirimatangi Island then please do!

We took part in the ava ceremony which was beautiful and the teachers got to taste some ava which the teachers described as being “tongue numbing”. We hope you have a lovely Samoan Language Week.
