Camp 2025

Kia Ora Whanau,

Our Year 6s spent 5 amazing days at Carey Park Christian Camp, this camp was an amazing experience as we were able to learn so much skills such as teamwork, personal responsibility and being able to face and overcome personal challenges. It was so fun and tiring at the same time. If you get a chance to go to camp please do go indeed as its a once in a lifetime opportunity. Here is a few snapshots of our camp moments.

Stages of Germination

Talofa Lava whanau,

Since we have planted our seeds, we will be spending the next couple of weeks learning about the stages of germination. It is a process of how a seed becomes a plant so we want to make sure we understand what exactly happens during the stages of how a seed turns into a wonderful plant. We will start our preparation and research today and we will keep you updated on our findings as we complete our posters.

Whakapuawai- Planting our seed

Kia Ora Whanau,

Our inquiry topic is called “Whakapuawai” which is basically means. “act to flourish and blossom into the future”. We are doing a class vs class planting competition where we get different seeds to plant and the plant that we were given was the Kakaha plant. We did lots of pre planting research on it. We realized in order for it to grow properly we need enough space, water, and making sure it gets enough sunlight. Here is a snapshot of our planted seed tray

Happy Matariki!

Kia Ora Whanau,

We decided to celebrate Matariki by learning more about the stars of Matariki and what each star is associated with. We were so excited to see the importance of each star and what they do for us. We also learn that Matariki is a time for remembrance of our ancestors and to also use it as a time of reflection on ours selves and setting goals for the future. Hope you all enjoyed your Matariki.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Kia Ora Whanau,

Today we were fortunate enough to have some environmentalist come into our school and teach us about the importance of protecting our beaches. We were taught the importance of the 3 R’s. Reduce, Reuse and Recycling. We enjoyed the show alot as it taught us that when we leave our rubbish behind we are hurting the ecosystem and the animals that are part of that ecosystem. So the important thing is to learn to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle if we want a happier and healthier planet.

Cultural Celebration Day

Bula Vinaka whanau,

Today our school celebrated the all the cultures in our school. We understand that each culture is unique in its own way so its important for us to celebrate each others uniqueness and to come together as one. We hope you have a chance to celebrate your cultures too as its nothing to be ashamed about instead its something to show off and be proud of.
